This choir first materialised for an Evensong in St.Oswald's Church, Durham, celebrating Herbert Howells's 80th birthday, on 17th October 1972 (last century!). In the years since, this rolling stone (perhaps Stones) has gathered much moss, and from small beginnings with a group of like-minded real ale-testers Durham graduates, has grown piecemeal into a large list of singers, allegedly S.A.T.B etc., of diverse origins, size and appearance, a motley crowd from whom some 40 are moved to volunteer and meet up as a splendidly accomplished choir twice a year, singing services and disrupting life at various English Cathedrals when their own establishment is on holiday. Logistics are ably managed by Marilyn BDrew.  Much memorable music has been sung for the greater glory and good in 31 years!

Cantores Vagantes "World" Tour
Connoiseurs may find the "World Tour" venues enlightening; of places recovering after normal peace has
been shattered, canonries pillaged, and the best ale houses emptied of their contents - all at great expense
to the health and purses of the Singers. Taste and quality, in singing of course, invariably prevail, and the
choir's return to old haunts is eagerly anticipated, times beyond measure in some cases it might seem.
