This Conference will be the 2nd of a 4-year sequence of Conferences being held between 2007 and 2010 under the general title: The Organ in England: Its Music, Construction, and Role in the Second Millennium. 

Papers are expected on subjects relating to English organs, organ literature, construction, related technology and performance practice up to the end of the eighteenth century.

Participants include:  John Harper, Peter Williams, John Wellingham, John Caldwell, Dominic Gwynn, Alan Chapman, and others.

                                                                                               

This Conference will be residential at Merton College, although accommodation may be in various Oxford Colleges. 
The rate for the entire Conference, including dinners, concerts and B&B accommodation is likely to be about £360.  Day rates (accommodation not included) will also be available.

restored 18th century instruments and a new organ closely based on 18th century principles:

& Gwynn 1991
  • St Paul, Deptford - new organ by William Drake 2004, with existing casework and facade
pipes by Griffin c1745
